Vamana Stotram
About this stotra
Vamana Stotram (वामनस्तोत्रम्) - a hymn to Lord Vamana, the dwarf incarnation of Vishnu who measured the universe in three steps. He teaches that the divine can appear in the smallest form and yet encompass all of existence.
|| वामनस्तोत्रम् ||
Verse 1
वामनं रूपमास्थाय बलिं बद्ध्वा महासुरम् । त्रिविक्रम जगन्नाथ विष्णो तुभ्यं नमो नमः ॥ १ ॥
vāmanaṃ rūpamāsthāya baliṃ baddhvā mahāsuram | trivikrama jagannātha viṣṇo tubhyaṃ namo namaḥ || 1 ||
Having assumed the dwarf form, having bound the great demon Bali, O Trivikrama, O lord of the world, O Vishnu, salutations to you again and again.
Verse 2
त्रीन् पादान् प्रार्थयामास बलेर्याच्ञां चकार ह । विश्वरूपं समास्थाय विष्णो तुभ्यं नमो नमः ॥ २ ॥
trīn pādān prārthayāmāsa baleryācñāṃ cakāra ha | viśvarūpaṃ samāsthāya viṣṇo tubhyaṃ namo namaḥ || 2 ||
Having begged for three steps from Bali, having assumed the universal form, O Vishnu, salutations to you again and again.
