About
Why this site exists and the spirit behind it.
Vedānta Loka is a space for the study and contemplation of Advaita Vedānta - the non-dual teaching that has been passed down through an unbroken lineage from the Upaniṣads, through Śaṅkara, and down to the present day.
This site exists because the texts, hymns, and teachings of this tradition deserve a home on the web that is quiet, clean, and reverent - free from pop-ups, autoplay videos, astrology spam, and the clutter that dominates most spiritual websites today.
Built by Akhil Pratap Singh
With śraddhā (श्रद्धा) and a deep love for the teaching of non-duality. This site is a humble attempt to make Vedāntic wisdom accessible in a form that honours its depth.
What's Here
The site currently holds 112 stotras, 47 texts, 39 concept guides, 19 teacher biographies, 97 teaching tales, and 152 Panchatantra fables (67 in Hindi, 85 in English) - alongside a daily companion with panchang and verse of the day, a curated festival calendar of Advaita-relevant dates, and a library of curated resources. More content is added gradually - each piece handpicked, not bulk-imported.
The library section lists translations, recordings, articles, and study guides as a curated directory of external resources. These are not hosted on this site but are linked for reference - each recommended for its quality and alignment with the traditional teaching.
Editorial Standards
- Stotras are sourced from Geeta Press (Gorakhpur) and other authoritative editions. Every verse is checked against the source text. Where multiple versions exist, the most widely accepted version is used.
- Transliteration follows the IAST (International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration) standard, with diacritics for accurate pronunciation.
- Concepts are explained based on traditional commentaries - primarily Śaṅkara's bhāṣyas and the teachings of Swāmī Paramārthānanda and Swāmī Dayānanda Saraswatī. The goal is not originality but fidelity to the paramparā.
- Audio is included where high-quality, publicly available recordings exist - currently for select stotras. These are embedded from external sources, not self-hosted.
What This Site Is Not
This is not a commercial venture, a social platform, or a place for debates. There are no forums, no comments sections, no astrology tools, and no "talk to an astrologer" pop-ups. It is simply a library - a quiet corner of the web where the teaching can speak for itself.
It is also not a complete reference. Many important texts and stotras are not yet here. They will be added over time, as they are curated - one at a time.
