Tara Stotram
About this stotra
Tara Stotram (तारास्तोत्रम्) - a hymn to Goddess Tara, the savior goddess who guides beings across the ocean of worldly existence. She represents the compassion that rescues and the wisdom that liberates.
|| तारास्तोत्रम् ||
Verse 1
तारां तारां महादेवीं भवाब्धितारिणीम् । नीलवर्णां महाभीमां नमामि च कृपानिधिम् ॥ १ ॥
tārāṃ tārāṃ mahādevīṃ bhavābdhitāriṇīm | nīlavarṇāṃ mahābhīmāṃ namāmi ca kṛpānidhim || 1 ||
I bow to Tara, the great goddess who ferries beings across the ocean of worldly existence, blue in color, greatly fearsome, a treasure of compassion.
Verse 2
खड्गछेदकरां देवीं छिन्नमस्तां भयंकरीम् । हस्तमुद्रां नमाम्याद्यां तारां त्रैलोक्यरक्षिणीम् ॥ २ ॥
khaḍgacchedakarāṃ devīṃ chinnamastāṃ bhayaṅkarīm | hastamudrāṃ namāmyādyāṃ tārāṃ trailokyarakṣiṇīm || 2 ||
I bow to Tara, the primal goddess, holding a sword, with severed head, fearsome, with hand gestures, the protector of the three worlds.
