|| नवग्रहस्तोत्रम् ||

जपाकुसुमसङ्काशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम् । तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम् ॥१॥

japākusumasaṅkāśaṃ kāśyapeyaṃ mahādyutim | tamo’riṃ sarvapāpaghnaṃ praṇato’smi divākaram ||1||

I bow to the sun, the maker of the day, who shines like the hibiscus flower, the son of Kashyapa, of great splendor, the enemy of darkness, the destroyer of all sins.

दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम् । नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम् ॥२॥

dadhiśaṅkhatuṣārābhāṃ kṣīrodārṇavasambhavam | namāmi śaśinaṃ somaṃ śambhormukuṭabhūṣaṇam ||2||

I bow to the moon, the Lord Soma, who shines like curd, conch, and snow, born from the ocean of milk, who adorns the crown of Shambhu (Shiva).

धरणीगर्भसम्भूतं विद्युत्पुञ्जसमप्रभम् । कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं च मङ्गलं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥३॥

dharaṇīgarbhasambhūtaṃ vidyutpuñjasamaprabham | kumāraṃ śaktihastaṃ ca maṅgalaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||3||

I bow to Mangala (Mars), born from the womb of the earth, whose radiance is like a mass of lightning, the youth, holding the spear Shakti in his hand.

प्रियङ्गुकलिकाश्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् । सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥४॥

priyaṅgukalikāśyāmaṃ rūpeṇāpratimaṃ budham | saumyaṃ saumyaguṇopetaṃ taṃ budhaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||4||

I bow to Budha (Mercury), who is dark like the millet bud, incomparable in beauty, gentle and endowed with gentle qualities.

देवानां च ऋषीणां च गुरुं काञ्चनसन्निभम् । बुद्धिमन्तं त्रिलोकेशं तं नौमि बृहस्पतिम् ॥५॥

devānāṃ ca ṛṣīṇāṃ ca guruṃ kāñcanasannibham | buddhimantaṃ trilokeśaṃ taṃ naumi bṛhaspatim ||5||

I bow to Brihaspati (Jupiter), the preceptor of gods and sages, shining like gold, the wise one, lord of the three worlds.

हिमकुन्दमृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम् । सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥६॥

himakundamṛṇālābhāṃ daityānāṃ paramaṃ gurum | sarvaśāstrapravaktāraṃ bhārgavaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||6||

I bow to Bhargava (Venus), the supreme preceptor of the demons, who shines like snow, jasmine, and lotus fiber, the speaker of all scriptures.

नीलाञ्जनसमाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम् । छायामार्ताण्डसम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् ॥७॥

nīlāñjanasamābhāsaṃ raviputraṃ yamāgrajam | chāyāmārtāṇḍasambhūtaṃ taṃ namāmi śanaiścaram ||7||

I bow to Shanaishcara (Saturn), who shines like blue ointment, the son of the sun, elder brother of Yama, born from Chaya and Martanda.

अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्यविमर्दनम् । सिंहिकागर्भसम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥८॥

ardhakāyaṃ mahāvīryaṃ candrādityavimardanam | siṃhikāgarbhasambhūtaṃ taṃ rāhuṃ praṇamāmyaham ||8||

I bow to Rahu, of half-body, of great valor, who afflicts the moon and the sun, born from the womb of Simhika.

पलाशपुष्पसङ्काशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम् । रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥९॥

palāśapuṣpasaṅkāśaṃ tārakāgrahamastakam | raudraṃ raudrātmakaṃ ghoraṃ taṃ ketuṃ praṇamāmyaham ||9||

I bow to Ketu, who shines like the Palasha flower, the chief of meteors and planets, fierce, terrifying, and of frightful nature.
