About this stotra

Kali Stotram (कालीस्तोत्रम्) - a hymn to Goddess Kali, the dark mother who destroys the ego and liberates the soul. She is time itself, the devourer of all, and the most compassionate of mothers who grants the ultimate freedom.

|| कालीस्तोत्रम् ||

कालीं करालवदनां खड्गखर्परधारिणीम् । नमामि नित्यं देवेशीं सर्वभूतभयंकरीम् ॥१॥

kālīṃ karālavadanāṃ khaḍgakharparadhāriṇīm | namāmi nityaṃ deveśīṃ sarvabhūtabhayaṅkarīm ||1||

I bow daily to Kali, with a fearsome face, holding a sword and a skull-cup, the queen of goddesses, fearsome to all beings.

शवारूढां महाभीमां मुण्डमालाविभूषिताम् । लोलजिह्वां दिगम्बरीं कालीं तां प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥२॥

śavārūḍhāṃ mahābhīmāṃ muṇḍamālāvibhūṣitām | lolajihvāṃ digambarīṃ kālīṃ tāṃ praṇamāmyaham ||2||

I bow to Kali, seated on a corpse, greatly fearsome, adorned with a garland of skulls, with a lolling tongue, clad in the directions.
