Vishnu Ashtakam
|| श्रीविष्ण्वष्टकम् ||
Verse 1
नारायण नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्ते कमलापते । नमस्ते मधवा नाथ नमस्ते देव सर्वदा ॥१॥
nārāyaṇa namaste’stu namaste kamalāpate | namaste madhavā nātha namaste deva sarvadā ||1||
O Narayana, salutations to You. Salutations to the Lord of Lakshmi. Salutations to the Lord Madhava. Salutations to You, O God, always.
Verse 2
त्वमेव ब्रह्म परमं त्वमेव पुरुषोत्तमः । त्वमेव प्रकृतिः सूक्ष्मा त्वमेवाक्षरमव्ययम् ॥२॥
tvameva brahma paramaṃ tvameva puruṣottamaḥ | tvameva prakṛtiḥ sūkṣmā tvamevākṣaramavyayam ||2||
You alone are the Supreme Brahman. You alone are the Supreme Person. You alone are the subtle Prakriti. You alone are the imperishable, immutable reality.
Verse 3
त्वमेव त्रिगुणातीतस्त्वमेव जगतां प्रभुः । त्वमेव सर्वभूतानां हृदयेशो नमोऽस्तु ते ॥३॥
tvameva triguṇātītastvameva jagatāṃ prabhuḥ | tvameva sarvabhūtānāṃ hṛdayeśo namo’stu te ||3||
You alone are beyond the three gunas. You alone are the Lord of the worlds. You alone are the heart-dweller of all beings. Salutations to You.
Verse 4
नमस्ते वासुदेवाय नमः संकर्षणाय च । नमः प्रद्युम्नदेवाय नमोऽनिरुद्धाय ते नमः ॥४॥
namaste vāsudevāya namaḥ saṃkarṣaṇāya ca | namaḥ pradyumnadevāya namo’niruddhāya te namaḥ ||4||
Salutations to Vasudeva. Salutations to Sankarshana. Salutations to Pradyumna. Salutations to Aniruddha.
Verse 5
नमः शिवाय शान्ताय नमस्ते ब्रह्मरूपिणे । नमस्ते विष्णवे तुभ्यं नमो नारायणाय च ॥५॥
namaḥ śivāya śāntāya namaste brahmarūpiṇe | namaste viṣṇave tubhyaṃ namo nārāyaṇāya ca ||5||
Salutations to the Auspicious and Peaceful. Salutations to You who are Brahman. Salutations to Vishnu. Salutations to Narayana.
Verse 6
नमस्ते पुण्डरीकाक्ष नमस्ते विश्वभावन । नमस्ते विश्वरूपाय त्रैलोक्येश नमोऽस्तु ते ॥६॥
namaste puṇḍarīkākṣa namaste viśvabhāvana | namaste viśvarūpāya trailokyeśa namo’stu te ||6||
Salutations to the Lotus-eyed. Salutations to the Creator of the universe. Salutations to the Universal Form. O Lord of the three worlds, salutations to You.
Verse 7
राम राम रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे । सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने ॥७॥
rāma rāma rāmeti rame rāme manorame | sahasranāma tattulyaṃ rāmanāma varānane ||7||
The name ‘Rama, Rama, Rama’ brings joy to the enchanting Lord. O beautiful-faced one, the name of Rama is equal to the thousand names of Vishnu.
Verse 8
विष्णोरष्टकमेतद्यः पठेत्सुसमाहितः । सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तो विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति ॥८॥
viṣṇoraṣṭakametadyaḥ paṭhetsusamāhitaḥ | sarvapāpavinirmukto viṣṇulokaṃ sa gacchati ||8||
Whoever recites this Vishnu Ashtakam with focused attention becomes free from all sins and attains the world of Vishnu.
