Panduranga Ashtakam (पाण्डुरङ्गाष्टकम्) - eight verses in praise of Lord Panduranga (Vithoba) of Pandharpur, the beloved deity of Maharashtra. He stands on a brick, arms akimbo, waiting for his devotees with infinite patience.

Verse 1
महायोगपीठे तटे भीमरथ्या वरं पुण्डरीकाय दातुं मुनीन्द्रैः । समागत्य तिष्ठन्तमानन्दकन्दं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ १ ॥
mahāyogapīṭhe taṭe bhīmarathyā varaṃ puṇḍarīkāya dātuṃ munīndraiḥ | samāgatya tiṣṭhantam ānandakandaṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 1 ||
On the bank of the Bhimarathi at the great seat of yoga, you came with the great sages to grant a boon to Pundarika and stand as the source of bliss. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 2
तटिद्वाससं नीलमेघावभासं रमामन्दिरं सुन्दरं चित्प्रकाशम् । वरं त्विष्टकायां समन्यस्तपादं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ २ ॥
taṭidvāsasaṃ nīlameghāvabhāsaṃ ramāmandiraṃ sundaraṃ citprakāśam | varaṃ tviṣṭakāyāṃ samanyastapādaṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 2 ||
Clad in garments bright as lightning and radiant like a blue cloud, beautiful abode of Lakshmi and illumination of consciousness, with one foot placed upon a brick, I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 3
प्रमाणं भवाब्धेरिदं मामकानां नितम्बः कराभ्यां धृतो येन तस्मात् । विधातुर्वसत्यै धृतो नाभिकोशः परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ ३ ॥
pramāṇaṃ bhavābdher idaṃ māmakānāṃ nitambaḥ karābhyāṃ dhṛto yena tasmāt | vidhātur vasatyai dhṛto nābhikośaḥ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 3 ||
Your hands rest upon your hips, marking the limit of the ocean of worldly existence for people like me; from your navel arises the cosmic abode of the Creator. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 4
स्फुरत्कौस्तुभालङ्कृतं कण्ठदेशे श्रिया जुष्टकेयूरकं श्रीनिवासम् । शिवं शान्तमीड्यं वरं लोकपालं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ ४ ॥
sphuratkaustubhālaṅkṛtaṃ kaṇṭhadeśe śriyā juṣṭakeyūrakaṃ śrīnivāsam | śivaṃ śāntam īḍyaṃ varaṃ lokapālaṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 4 ||
Adorned with the radiant Kaustubha jewel at the neck, wearing armlets cherished by Lakshmi and dwelling with Sri, you are auspicious, peaceful, worthy of praise, and the protector of the worlds. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 5
शरच्चन्द्रबिम्बाननं चारुहासं लसत्कुण्डलाक्रान्तगण्डस्थलान्तम् । जपारागबिम्बाधरं कञ्जनेत्रं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ ५ ॥
śaraccandrabimbānanaṃ cāruhāsaṃ lasatkuṇḍalākrāntagaṇḍasthalāntam | japārāgabimbādharaṃ kañjanetraṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 5 ||
Your face is like the autumn moon, with a beautiful smile and cheeks touched by shining earrings; your lips are red like hibiscus and the bimba fruit, and your eyes are like lotuses. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 6
किरीटोज्ज्वलत्सर्वदिक्प्रान्तभागं सुरैरर्चितं दिव्यरत्नैरनर्घैः । त्रिभङ्गाकृतिं बर्हमाल्यावतंसं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ ६ ॥
kirīṭojjvalatsarvadikprāntabhāgaṃ surair arcitaṃ divyaratnair anarghaiḥ | tribhaṅgākṛtiṃ barhamālyāvataṃsaṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 6 ||
Your crown illumines every direction, and the gods worship you with priceless divine jewels. You stand in the tribhanga posture, adorned with a crest of peacock feathers. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 7
विभुं वेणुनादं चरन्तं दुरन्तं स्वयं लीलया गोपवेषं दधानम् । गवां बृन्दकानन्ददं चारुहासं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ ७ ॥
vibhuṃ veṇunādaṃ carantaṃ durantaṃ svayaṃ līlayā gopaveṣaṃ dadhānam | gavāṃ vṛndakānandadaṃ cāruhāsaṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 7 ||
All-pervading, playing the flute and moving through boundless divine play, you assume the form of a cowherd. With your lovely smile, you bring delight to the herds of cows. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Verse 8
अजं रुक्मिणीप्राणसञ्जीवनं तं परं धाम कैवल्यमेकं तुरीयम् । प्रसन्नं प्रपन्नार्तिहं देवदेवं परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ ८ ॥
ajaṃ rukmiṇīprāṇasañjīvanaṃ taṃ paraṃ dhāma kaivalyam ekaṃ turīyam | prasannaṃ prapannārtihaṃ devadevaṃ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam || 8 ||
You are unborn, the reviver of Rukmini’s life, the supreme abode, the one Kaivalya, and the transcendent fourth state. Gracious Lord of lords, you remove the distress of those who surrender to you. I worship Panduranga, the embodiment of Parabrahman.
Phala Shruti
स्तवं पाण्डुरङ्गस्य वै पुण्यदं ये पठन्त्येकचित्तेन भक्त्या च नित्यम् । भवाम्भोनिधिं तेऽपि तीर्त्वान्तकाले हरेरालयं शाश्वतं प्राप्नुवन्ति ॥ ९ ॥
stavaṃ pāṇḍuraṅgasya vai puṇyadaṃ ye paṭhanty ekacittena bhaktyā ca nityam | bhavāmbhonidhiṃ te’pi tīrtvāntakāle harer ālayaṃ śāśvataṃ prāpnuvanti || 9 ||
Those who recite this holy hymn to Panduranga every day with one-pointed devotion cross the ocean of worldly existence at the end of life and attain the eternal abode of Hari.
