|| गायत्रीमन्त्र ||

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः ॥ 1 ॥ तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि । धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥ 2 ॥

oṃ bhūrbhuvaḥ svaḥ ||1|| tatsaviturvareṇyaṃ bhargo devasya dhīmahi | dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt ||2||

Om. We meditate upon the supremely adorable effulgence of the divine Sun, the creator. May he inspire our intellects.

ॐ आपो ज्योती रसोऽमृतं ब्रह्म भूर्भुवः स्वरोम् ॥ 3 ॥

oṃ āpo jyotī raso’mṛtaṃ brahma bhūrbhuvaḥ svarom ||3||

Om. Waters, light, essence, immortality, Brahman, the three worlds - Om.

॥ इति गायत्रीमन्त्रः सम्पूर्णः ॥

The Gayatri Mantra appears in the Rig Veda (3.62.10). It is traditionally recited at dawn, noon, and dusk. The mantra is addressed to Savitr, the Sun as the source of all life and consciousness.
