The Panchatantra is an ancient Indian collection of interrelated animal fables in Sanskrit, compiled by the sage Vishnu Sharma. This translation by Arthur W. Ryder is based on Purnabhadra's recension of 1199 CE. Each book teaches the art of wise conduct through stories within stories.
